I was talking the other day with my friend Greg Wilson and he was sharing with me a formula that he uses when talking with people about differing points of view.

These are his A, B, C’s:

1. A – “Alternative Viewpoint”

First, he asks someone, “Do you know the alternative viewpoint?” Another way of saying that would be, “Do you know the opposing argument?”

2. B – “Brainwashed”

He then asks, “If you don’t know both sides, how do you know if you are being deceived or brainwashed?”

3. C – “Consider”

He then asks, “Would you be willing to consider the possibility that you have come to a faulty conclusion based on not having a full command of the facts?”
